Contracts
When you rent a property you will be entering into a contract, often known as a tenancy agreement. This will lay down your rights and responsibilities as well as the landlord’s rights and responsibilities. When you sign a tenancy agreement you will probably be binding yourself to the property for a year, so it’s important to check everything is above board before you do so.
We have put together this guide to provide general advice about tenancy agreements, but it is not intended as a replacement for professional advice. Universities and colleges often have a Student Advice Centre or similar body who will be able to check through a tenancy agreement; alternatively you should visit a Citizens’ Advice Bureau or a solicitor.
